Northern Quarter – Afflecks Independent Markets 

If you want to have a day out getting lost around 70 different independent stores offering everything from vintage clothing, vinyls, posters, gothic and punk subculture gear, then this indoor market is perfect for you. Afflecks is right in the heart of the Northern Quarter, known for indie stores, street art, and the fast-paced city nightlife.

Northern Quarter – Blue Rinse Manchester Kilo Shop

This store is a charity shop that sells vintage, second-hand clothes for a decent price. The clothes they sell in this store lean towards the 90’s/Y2K style that is popular nowadays, but still features some clothes styles from the 80’s and 70’s. This shop is great for leather/ denim jackets and jeans for a moderate price; you can buy a whole outfit for a fraction of the price when comparing it to new clothes. 

Vinyl Music – Piccadilly Records and Vinyl Exchange

Piccadilly Records and Vinyl Exchange is perfect iIf you own a vinyl, love music, or just want to do some window shopping to see all the different albums. Located in the Northern Quarter, it is close to the second-hand stores previously mentioned, so it is definitely worth checking out.

Northern Quarter – Forbidden Planet Comic Sore 

Forbidden planet is known for being the world’s largest sci-fi comic books and cult collectables. Even if you are not interested in this type of media, it is worth a shot to have a browse and maybe find something you could get into. 

Waterstones – Deansgate 

With multiple stores around Manchester city centre, Deansgate Waterstones is a 3 story building full of different books for you to discover. With their relaxing cafe built in the waterstones, you are welcome to grab a book and try one out before you decide to purchase it. 

Pop Boutique – Northern Quarter 

Pop boutique is known for the primarily sixties style of second-hand clothing and furniture which really takes you back in time as soon as you step into the store. There are two floors in this store, jam-packed quirky clothes and retro furniture that can satisfy all your stylish needs. 

HIP – Northern Quarter 

This is a more of a premium retail store that sells many brands like C.P. Company, Carhartt, Saloman, Nike, New Balance, etc. This decides to stock brands that focus more on craftsmanship, heritage and technical subcultures, instead of brands that focus heavily just on their branding. To keep you on your toes and keep you engaged with HIP, the store also frequently hosts drops for niche and technical footwear.

Oxfam Originals – Northern Quarter 

Charity shopping is always fun to mix into your day out in town, the thrill of finding something that is up your street for a fraction of the cost if bought new in retail has got to be one of the best feelings. You can find books, toys, clothes and decorations here for affordable prices and knowing that your money is going to a better cause. 

Hang Won Hong – China Town

This one is a bit different but definitely worth checking out, this store is full of different Asian food and spices that can transform your cooking. You can find this store going down China Town, which is also great to have a wonder down and try out all the different restaurants. 

Blank Street Coffee – Oxford Street 

I recently came across Blank Street Coffee when walking down Oxford Road which I had to go in. With their sleek and comfy furniture, minimalistic interior design and delicious coffees, this is a perfect little pitstop for you when you are out shopping. 

Manchester Arndale Shopping Centre

This is the main shopping centre in Manchester city centre, packed with different types of shops that have everything you need. For food, there is a range of fast-food chains that are great for a light snack or a family feast. This shopping centre also has stores like Apple, All Saints, Arc’TeryX, Build A Bear Workshop, CEX, Canada Goose and many many more stores. 

Fred Aldous- Northern Quarter 

Fred Aldous is an arts and crafts store that has been around for 150 years in the Northern Quarter. So if you have a creative bone, or you just want a good scrapbook, Fred Aldous does it all with insured premium quality to anything you purchase. As I am flying away to France next week, I decided to buy a quality passport cover from Fred Aldous for my British citizenship, which I cannot complain about, it is perfect.
