When it comes to fashion and societal norms, there can be opinions from others that try to put you in a box and tell you that you cannot wear that because of your age. I say screw them. You should always dress how you want; it’s stupid to think you can’t wear tight dresses or a cowl neck top because you are not the age that society deems acceptable. There is something liberating about wearing what makes you look and feel good and ignoring what everyone else is doing.
I have promised myself that as I grow older, I will stay true to my sense of style and what has truly inspired this piece is a famous TikTok account. I cannot find or remember the name unfortunately but I will always remember one video that was on older women where he asked this extremely fashionable group of older ladies where their pieces were from and what piece of advice they’d give to people. They were dressed in extravagant pieces that caught the eye, bold colours and even bolder makeup, they all made it prevalent that age is just a number but looking good is always and that has truly resonated with me. No matter your age, there truly is no reason why you can’t be fashionable and fabulous.
So without further ado, if you are looking for inspiration to keep things fashionable as you grow or if you have lost your style and want to bring it back, we have something here for you.
Keep It Simple
If there is a style in fashion that doesn’t age and looks good on everyone, it’s a chic piece of fashion, and usually, if it’s chic, it’s simple but effective. Whether you are going for some tailored pants with a trench coat and knitted top or an elegant-looking dress for the warmer seasons. In most cases, less is more and it also lasts much longer. You can jazz up your pieces of clothing with accessories like a bold bag, sunglasses, belts and heels that look elegant on a woman at any age.
Invest In Quality
Quality is always important; it is not only more sustainable but you can also tell when you look at clothes that if they’re cheap, you can tell almost immediately and especially after a few washes, you might not even want to wear them because of their appearance.
You can find gorgeous, one-of-a-kind pieces and collect them with time. Your wardrobe can be full of jackets, dresses and shoes that complement many outfits and are completely timeless. That’s not to say you need to spend a fortune, but splurge now and then on things and styles you like and will forever have in your wardrobe.
Choose Styles That Suit You
From your teens onwards, your style changes tremendously and with that, you have had the opportunity to try specific styles that you have found are suited for your body type and complement your figure. Just because you are older doesn’t mean you have to stop wearing specific things, but it’s a step forward in making you feel confident in your clothes again.

Head Straight For The Tailors
Something that is true every decade is that clothes that fit you perfectly always look better. If you aren’t a handy sower yourself, then getting familiar with your local tailor will transform your outfits. Tailors are actually pretty inexpensive and don’t take long at all. This way, you can buy quality pieces without having to worry about whether they are the perfect fit. Standard sizes are always different with every brand you buy; there is no consistency and this can be annoying and make our style not look as refined as it should be.
Tailors have the ability to do everything, so consider taking your pants up, loosening the waistline, and all the in-between. It will transform your outfits and you’ll look fabulous!
Dress How You Want
There is this misconception that at a certain age, you can’t wear specific things but if there is anything I’ve learned, your 40s and 50s are your best years! You shouldn’t let society dictate what you can and can’t do and if anything is contagious, it’s confidence! That doesn’t mean you have to dress in your 20s and so forth but wearing things that make you feel beautiful should always be the priority. If you’ve got the assets, why not show them off? It’s all about keeping your style and when eventually you don’t feel like that, don’t. Staying true to yourself is what’s most important.
Final Thoughts
When it comes down to it, staying fashionable at any age takes confidence, style, tailors and quality pieces. Stay true to yourself and don’t forget to have fun with it! Whether you want to spice it up with a red dress or keep things tailored and minimal. There are loads of routes you can take but we hope you just love your fits.
